sock swap 'vog ons complete

A delicious lacy confection in mouth-wateringly juicy shades of orange. I wish I didn't have to send these socks away. The yarn is the Koigu I bought during the fall TTC Knitalong, and though I wanted to keep it, no other sock plans worked out for this round of the 'palooza. Thus I gave in, grabbed the yummy orange and the trusty pattern (I hear the designer thinks just like me) and got to work. My housewarming party derailed my progress the week before the deadline, and so these socks are more than a week late going out. I hope the recipient thinks that they're worth it.

this is why I didn't take the pictures when I submitted the pattern.

x-posted from my blog, where there is a bonus picture of the sock on vacation!

"Vog On" Bluebird of Friendlliness

This is a wonderful pattern. Not too easy but you can still have a conversation or watch tv while knitting. I used a 100% mercerised Cotton. The pattern and especially the cast on row held up quite well.

Yarn: Jaeger - Aqua Cotton - Color 329 Salvia
Needle: 5 Size 2 Brittany dp's
Pattern: Vog On - Knitty Summer 2007

toe-up corrections and w&t

edited to reflect the actual published pattern, rather than the incorrect one i submitted

Hi everyone! There is a wee problems with the toe-up numbers. One tiny correction will be made to the Knitty pattern soon; in the meantime the correction is in bold. Hope nobody got too frustrated with the pattern! I'm sorry I didn't catch this sooner!

Tequila Phoenix (toe-up formula)
Eye of Partridge Heel Flap:
...
Repeat these 4 rows 8 times more; then Rows 1 & 2. Do not turn work at end of last row. You will be at end of Needle 4. 57 sts remain.
***************

Here are some wrapping and turning instructions from the Lizard Ridge pattern:

Wrap & Turn [W&T]
To wrap and turn on a RS row, knit to point specified in pattern, bring yarn to front of work between needles, slip next stitch to right-hand needle, bring yarn around this stitch to back of work, slip stitch back to left-hand needle, turn work to begin purling back in the other direction.
To wrap and turn on a WS row, purl to point specified in pattern, bring yarn to back of work between needles, slip next stitch to right-hand needle, bring yarn around this stitch to front of work, slip stitch back to left-hand needle, turn work to begin knitting back in the other direction.

progress?

Hi, how is everyone doing on their 'Vog Ons? I have one down, one to go and I got sidetracked with the Mystery Stole 3, so now I'm on track again and going to cast on the 2nd sock.

Hogwarts Sock Swap Sock

I had been trying to find the perfect pattern for pal - something appropriate but not obvious but gave up, then I remembered the other names of the 'vog on socks. So I am knitting Tequila PHOENIX - how apt I thought (esp with the release of The Order of the Phoenix). I haven't done much yet but really enjoying the pattern. My swap pal is a Ravenclaw so I am using self-striping Ravenclaw sock yarn from RazzyTazzyKnits

Help

I'm kind of stuck, stalled, confused. I'm doing the top up version and I've never worked the heel like this before. On the gusset where you do the short rows and it says to w & t, what I'm doing is slip stitch, wrap and turn. Is this correct? I don't think I'm doing this right and I'm stuck. I'm not coming up with the 98 stitches when done. Any help would be appreciated.

'Vog On's Started

I started my socks last night. I'm using US1 double circulars and I did the short row toe because it's easier for me. I love the lace pattern, it gives you a little variety when knitting. I'm using a Francis Patrick Sock and Shawl yarn in a pretty colorway called Mountain Wildflowers. It's hand dyed and my favorite sock yarn. I have pics on Ravelry.

Happy Wednesday!

Have a question for MeganKnits

Megan~ Do you have a blog? Can you email me the link? or put it here if you don't mind. I'm trying to keep up with all your blogs on Bloglines. Thanks!

And if any of you are interested, please add me as a friend on Ravelry, I'd love to see all your projects. My name on there is Mitchypoo...of course.

Maryannlucy Update

Ok it is 11pm so no photos now as I need to go to bed, BUT I have finished no 1!!!!
Woo hoo!

Hi from Mitchypoo!

Hello all! I haven't started my socks yet but I'm thinking I should call them Born On's since that is what I'll be wearing with them. I can't wait to start the pattern, I think I may start tonight. Although I'm feeling under the weather, so it may have to wait.

I'm excited it's a toe-up because after learning how, it's the only way to go for me. And I'm looking forward to learning a new heel. I want to make the longer leg version.

I'm going to go check out all your blog's now... and please come visit me!

BLOG FIX

Okay everyone...I don't know why it was saving all of your posts as "drafts" and not publishing them. I think it is fixed. Sorry...this is my first "group" blog.

Hi

I am Maryannlucy, and I have messed up on the heel of Vog On #1. So I have to tink and try again. I am enjoying knitting it. These are my first toe ups, and I have decided that despite not concentrating ont he heel, that I love toe-ups. No sewing!
I think I also messed up trying to get the photo on. Anyway, the first one is nearly finished - thank goodness for patience, frogging and trying again ;-) so I will post that later when it is done.
I spent all of yesterday getting my stash photo'd and put onto Ravelry - I then spent the evening hanging my head in shame after I saw exactly what I have got!! and trying to understand why I can't let it go, despite the fact I will probably never use some of it EVER. This morning I thought I would sort out some boxes to put some of the stash in, and then realised I had missed another box hidden in the bedroom. I haven't looked in it yet (I will save that for later), but let's face it, it can't be good if I didn't even remember it.

hi!

My name is Aleta, and I'll be your designer this evening. Hee! That was fun.

I'm doing my second pair for Sockapalooza 4, out of some really juicy orange Koigu PPPM I bought last fall. Anyway, you can come to me with any complaints; all mistakes are likely mine. :)

My Intro

Hola! I'm Amy aka herzeleid on Ravelry. I figured that a shared blog would be the best way for us all to communicate while working on our socks.

I'm not sure which yarn I'm going to use yet. I was thinking about Trekking in the exact same colorway that someone else on Ravelry has posted that they were going to do this pattern in. However, I just received my limited edition Tofutsies color and I'm itching to start knitting with it....so the Tofutsies will probably win.

I can't cast on this pattern just yet. I have to finish the socks on the needles before starting another pair (besides the fact that I also currently have a purse and clapotis on needles too).

Welcome!

Hi everyone! This is my first venture into "group" blogging and KAL's. I'm planning on using the Ravelry "joiners" to start this group off. If you would like to join the group please leave a comment.

Once you have been added - please post a little bit about yourself or your plans for the pattern. I want this blog to be for all of the KALers.....so don't be shy.

It will get a little boring around here if I'm only talking to myself!
